Martin Luther King Playground

Together with the children (age 6-13) of Martin Luther King’s Adventure Playground, an outdoor painting was conceived, comprised of two main sections: a public access walkway and walls surrounding the playground. Through a series of throwing games involving small sandbags, children would select colours randomly and mark out circles on the pavement which would later be painted in together; each set of circles therefore maps the play movements of one child along the pavement. With the same colours, I extended the work as stripes onto the playground walls and the main street. The work is retouched every few months.
